MUSCULOSKELETAL & PSYCHOLOGICAL

MUSCULOSKELETAL SERVICES

PAM Wellbeing provides quality and affordable occupational physiotherapy and ergonomic solutions to both the public and private sectors. We have particular experience working with public sector, commercial, logistics and retail environments and we care for organisations who employ over 500,000 colleagues in the UK. We manage more than 750 hand-picked private physiotherapy practices and over 3,000 individual qualified physiotherapists.

Evidence shows that immediate access to treatment and engaging in exercise and activities will speed up the recovery time from an injury. Therefore, at PAM Wellbeing we work with clients to ensure safe and speedy recoveries, providing a telephone triage service that screens the employee against evidence-based criteria to help us establish the most effective treatments and interventions.

PAM Wellbeing therapists utilise the following treatment approaches:

  • Diagnosis of your condition, including causes and effects

  • Hands-on treatment (mobilisation and manipulation)

  • A rehabilitation plan, providing advice and education in self-managing your condition

  • Self-help and home exercise plans (improving fitness, coordination and strength)

PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES

PAM Wellbeing provides an extensive range of counselling services that can help in treating mental health issues, including: stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, work problems, confidence, phobias, OCD, bereavement, relationship and PTSD.

All our counsellors and therapists are fully accredited to ensure that our services are safe, confidential and professional.

Person-Centred Counselling

Person-centred counselling has a proven track record in addressing people's issues. In learning to understand how to interact with the surrounding world, service users gain greater self-awareness and acceptance. Person-centred counselling empowers the individual to make choices and take control of his/her life.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, or CBT, has been shown to be a fast and effective way to help with many types of problems, including: anxiety, depression, panic, phobias, stress, bulimia, obsessive compulsive disorder, bi-polar disorder and post-traumatic stress. It can help change the way you think (cognitive) and what you do (behaviour), by focusing on the "here and now" problems instead of the causes of distress or symptoms in the past.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a powerful and effective psychological treatment method developed by Dr Francine Shapiro in the 1980's. It is used for treating psychological trauma, including post-traumatic stress disorder, from experiences such as childhood sexual and/or physical abuse, neglect, assault, road traffic accidents and workplace accidents.

Wellbeing Assessments

Wellbeing Assessments are used by employers to find the best way to manage a colleague's issues and support them appropriately. Carried out by our qualified mental health specialists, they provide an in-depth insight into a colleague's psychological health. Following the assessment a full report is provided to HR, which includes the results of the analyses, an opinion and management advice.

In addition, colleagues sometimes view ‘being referred to occupational health’ as a negative exercise and are therefore sometimes reluctant to talk about their issues. Therefore by speaking to a trained specialist, as opposed to an OH Professional, an individual is often more likely to open up. The exercise also has the added benefit of providing a therapeutic effect for employees dealing with stress or depression.
